When mixing slurries, particularly when using bentonite, the colloidal mixing principle used by MAT mixers plays a crucial role. This principle is based on uniform distribution of solid particles in a liquid phase, which leads to a stable and homogeneous slurry. One significant advantage is that when mixing bentonite suspensions, subsequent swelling is no longer required. This means that the particles immediately develop their full rheological properties and the slurry can be used directly. Not only does this make the process more efficient, it also considerably reduces the total time until the slurry is ready for use.

Another aspect is the potential for cutting down on cement consumption. Thanks to optimal dispersion, the bentonite portion can be considerably reduced in certain applications, which leads to a long-term decrease in material costs while at the same time supporting eco-friendly construction practices. Overall it has been demonstrated that strategic mixing of slurries based on the colloidal mixing principle not only improves the quality of slurry, but also achieves economical and ecological benefits.
